RI's Youth Exchange programme sends literally 'thousands'
of students aged between 15 and 19 years of age, on the adventures
of a lifetime. If you are ready for the challenge and the rewards
of living in another land and experiencing another culture, then
Rotary's Youth Exchange programme will enable you to discover yourself
and obtain a broader view of the world and its inhabitants.
There are three principal types of exchange:
Long-term exchanges
usually last for between 10
and 12 months, during which the student attends school or
college in the host country and lives with several families.

|
|
Short-term
exchanges involve spending 3-4 weeks during the
summer exploring a different country, another culture and
possibly another language. In return, you welcome your exchange
partner into your home for 3-4 weeks.
|
|
Rotary also organises special interest camps and tours
that last between one and four weeks. As many as 12 countries
may attend a Camp, where the preferred language is almost
always English. Many countries run camps for handicapped students.

Some Districts may offer university and college students, between
18-25, the opportunity to participate in a New Generations Exchange.
These are vocational exchanges from three-to-six weeks in duration
and may be organized for individuals or groups. Please e-mail
us for information.
Rotary also provides opportunities for young people who are already
established in their profession. The
Group Study Exchange programme provides grants for
teams of men and women in the early stages of their business and
professional careers to travel abroad and share vocational information
with the representatives of their respective professions in another
country. Team members spend four to six weeks studying the host
country's institutions, economy, and culture, while observing
how their own professions are practised abroad.
