Introduction...

You spend 3-4 weeks during the summer exploring a different country another culture and possibly another language. In return, you welcome your exchange partner into your home for 3-4 weeks.

You make a lifetime friend and have a lot of fun together exploring each other's countries.

Applications are welcome throughout the year.

Students who will shortly be going on their exchanges take part in the orientation training given by Rotary

What's the timing?..

Typically, summer exchange programs occur during July and August when you are out of school.

If you choose to make an exchange with a southern hemisphere country then your exchange partner will expect to come here during their long summer break in December and January.

Am I eligible?..

  • You are 15-19 years old.

  • You agree to host a foreign student in your home for 3-4 weeks.

  • Your school will give you a good character reference

I am younger than 15, what about me?..

No problem. Apply now and this gives Rotary a year or more to make sure you get your first choice of countries.

Where can I go?..

Rotary offers you a broad choice to ensure you have the most exciting summer of your life. Country availability varies from year to year, but here are some countries which operate a Short Term Exchange Programme:

What does it cost?..

You are responsible for the cost of your travel to your host country. You must also take out an insurance policy acceptable to your host Rotary Club.

There is also the cost of having a guest in your house for 3-4 weeks and the additional cost of any excursions or events you may attend.

You must obtain a passport, a visa (if required) and provide your own spending money for the duration of the exchange.
